The Emil Kiessling GmbH success story

Emil Kiessling GmbH can look back on a history rich in tradition. For more than half a century we have represented expertise and experience in the cosmetics industry. Go on a voyage of discovery and find out how we have developed in a focused manner to always be able to respond individually and flexibly to your current and future requirements.

From brewery to cosmetics manufacturer
When Emil Kiessling, the owner of the Georgensgmünd Brewery, is asked by American officers what he needs to continue his business he answers "Korn" (grain), without knowing the meaning of the English word "corn". As a true entrepreneur, Kiessling demonstrates his inventive spirit and uses the substances released from maize fermentation to produce hair tonic.
Continuing the success
Following the success of the first cosmetic product the line is gradually expanded always supported by an innate understanding of the needs of the market.
Expansion and growth
This was followed, among other things, by investments in modern machinery. This favours the expansion of the product range.
Sensational start
At the end of the 1970s Emil Kiessling added sun care to his product range and thus ensured rapid growth. The Ombra sun cream enjoyed remarkable success right from the start.
The company founder Emil Kiessling decides to sell the company to Wella AG for reasons of age.
Wella AG - and thus also Emil Kiessling GmbH - are sold to the global consumer goods group Procter & Gamble.
Mrs Waltraud Reichardt, owner of the Reichardt Group, acquires Emil Kiessling GmbH. With the establishment of an innovative research and development department she puts the company on the road to sustainable success once again.
Management handover

With the construction of a new, modern water treatment plant as well as a batch-controlled raw material warehouse with around 1,300 pallet spaces, Emil Kiessling GmbH once again demonstrates its innovative strength. The production spectrum was expanded to include the large domain of hair colour.
